Etale Massif
The Massif de l'Etale is very popular with intermediate and advanced skiers, offering beautiful red runs, wide open spaces, and excellent snow conditions. It is one of the closest ski areas to the U'Fredy Hotel.
The Massif de l'Étale is one of the most popular sectors in the La Clusaz ski area. Located in the immediate vicinity of the Logis Hôtel U'Fredy, this area offers an authentic skiing experience in the heart of the Aravis mountains, with a perfect balance between challenging slopes, alpine panoramas and a family-friendly atmosphere.
This area is particularly renowned for the quality of its snow and its favorable exposure. Thanks to its altitude and microclimate, the Massif de l'Étale often benefits from excellent snow conditions throughout the winter season.
Intermediate and advanced skiers love L'Étale for its long, technical, and flowing red runs. Among the iconic descents, the Régine Cavagnoud run is one of the most famous in the resort. Known for its challenging layout and steep drop, it attracts skiing enthusiasts looking for thrills and speed.
The mountain range is also highly valued for being less crowded than some other areas of La Clusaz. This allows for smoother skiing, with shorter waits at the lifts and a more peaceful atmosphere. Experienced skiers will also find excellent freeride and accessible off-piste opportunities, particularly around the Pointe de Merdassier and the Grand Laquais.
L'Étale is linked to the other sectors of the ski area by the Transval cable car, facilitating connections to the Aiguille massif and all 125 km of slopes in La Clusaz. The entire ski area extends between 1,100 and 2,600 meters in altitude with 85 slopes suitable for all levels.
For families and beginners, the area also offers more accessible zones and gentle slopes, ideal for learning to ski in a relaxed atmosphere. The U'Fredy ski lift, located near the hotel, is particularly convenient for first-timers and children.
